|Building Type||Technology Structure|
|Function||Unlock technology tiers, purchase upgrades|
One of the fundamental principles of capitalism is to try to get newer, more enticing and innovative versions of products that people will buy instead of the older, more traditional ones. The Syndicate works the same way, or almost. If you come up with a good idea, all the people that have more lawyers and money than you will find ways to steal your idea for themselves (not very innovative and seductive, but it will work). This doesn't stop the march of progress, though.
With the Research Department in your hand, a battalion of scientists (and lawyers) will be at your disposal to ensure you've got the best equipment (after all, you pay them). The possession of this structure unlocks the attractive possibility of improving the effectiveness of your troops, and makes a huge difference on long battles. Try to make a choice depending on your play style.
Just bear in mind one thing; you're footing the bill.
