Brief Rallies Confederate infantry forces to greater feats of patriotism

"I grew up used to air raid sirens and the fire of tank cannons, and learned to live with them. But that yell frightens me more than an Apocalypse."

- Peacekeeper Col. Albwin Goldblum

In the First American Civil War, the Confederate forces didn't have the best weapons, clothing, or means of supply. What they had were the better leaders, and more importantly, a burning desire to fight and win for their cause. Nowhere was this shown more than in the fearsome battle cry that became known as the "Rebel yell". Part battle cry, part psychological tactic, the Rebel yell is a mixture of sounds, not a deep bellowing war cry, but a high-pitched whoop or screech that, in the words of Union veterans, could send "a peculiar corkscrew sensation that went up your spine when you heard it".

By the 1960s, however, the veterans of the Civil War had all passed on, and the rebel yell was only preserved on a few old sound reels. Thankfully for those who wanted a rallying cry, those soldiers had children, and those children remembered their parents' yells.

Despite the questionable use of it by certain minority factions of the Confederates, the rebel yell has become the de-facto battle cry for Confederate infantry, strengthening their resolve, forcing their adrenaline into overdrive, and making their aim true. The downside, however, is that when under the effects of the rebel yell, Confederate troops become so fired up that they eschew cover, even the more professional minutemen. Skilled is the commander that can guide the anger and rage of the Confederate infantry who have used the rebel yell to a productive end.
