Ore is found throughout basically the entire world as different kinds of valuable metals and other extractable resources. From the jungles of Vietnam to the Arabian dunes, basically every military faction competes for control of the vital ore extraction points found in a battlefield. While most major factions would instantly outcompete minor factions for ore, in areas where no major factions exist, the minor factions expand their reach through control of the usage.
Of course, minor factions have found creative alternative methods to fuel & fund their efforts in a region besides ore given the competitive nature of it's control.

"Clear the way!"
- - Battlewagon Driver
Tactical Analysis[]
- Heavy duty collector: The Battlewagon is the ARVN's solution to ore collection in war-torn Vietnam. Its thick armour makes it resistant to attacks, and its weapons allow it to defend itself against Vietcong ambush.
- Support on-site: However, the Battlewagon is not just armed with any one fixed weapon. Instead, it has a protected bunker at the front of the vehicle. While this bunker can only hold one person, that person can fire out, making the Battlewagon an improvised Multigunner vehicle of sorts. Of course, the soldier may exit the vehicle at any time, as long as the Battlewagon stays on land.
- Undermanned: There is a downside to this, though. While such a system gives the Battlewagon considerable flexibility, it has the disadvantage of leaving the Battlewagon vulnerable without any infantry inside.
- Clear the way: Some Battlewagons have large dozer blades mounted at the front. In addition to providing additional protection, this also allows the Battlewagon to clear minefields away.
Background[]
The ARVN Salamander is one of the more "interesting" modifications made to the standard Retriever APC chassis, though if you ever said such a phrase to an Allied Nations observer in Vietnam they would remind you of the collateral damage they've been responsible for causing. Despite its effectiveness, the ARVN leadership did not want to go too far in pushing the Allies' patience, and the Salamander was quietly phased into positions that were not so easily observed by Allied officials.
This still left the ARVN forces with a number of Retriever APC chassis that were, to be put bluntly, useless in the terrain of Vietnam. However, a solution was found in a somewhat unexpected way. Allied command had been sending Prospectors by the dozens to Vietnam to be used in mining ore for the South Vietnamese government, but found it nearly impossible to safely protect both the ore refineries and subsequent operations made to protect them.
Prospector armour was simply too thin, and defensive tactics too focused on Soviet tactics to quickly adapt to Vietcong strategies of drawing defenders out of position and then launching an ambush from an unexpected angle. Such tactics would leave the unarmed Prospectors vulnerable, allowing the Vietcong to destroy them with ease. With losses piling up at a shocking speed, several officers were charged with finding a suitable replacement.
Quickly, they arrived at the conclusion that the replacement vehicle should have several traits; thick, durable armour, a large carrying capacity, and most importantly, an armament. The question, however, was what to arm it with; rockets, while effective against vehicles, were too inaccurate to deal with Vietcong foot soldiers effectively. Machine guns, on the other hand, would be effective against infantry, but poor against the increasing number of vehicles the Vietcong were putting up. It was theorised that a foe like the Vietcong would quickly adapt their tactics to whatever weapons they armed their replacement ore collector with, and there were only so many weapons they could mount on the vehicle without comprising its ore carrying capacity.
Eventually, they found a solution. The Retriever chassis was selected for the task of conversion, with its thick, durable armour and large passenger capacity. The passenger compartment was essentially gutted, converted into an impromptu ore bin, while the machine gun at the front of the vehicle were stripped away to make room for a one man bunker with a modular weapon slot. The idea was that a soldier could use the bunker as a protected firing position to fire on hostile forces.
While this would leave the collector vulnerable in the event that there was no one inside the bunker, it allowed for far more flexibility than if the ARVN had mounted a fixed weapon. This turned out to work to the ARVN's advantage, with a Vietcong strike on an ARVN ore operation was turned back when the Retriever suddenly spat out a long tongue of flame that torched the Vietcong out of cover.
Renamed Battlewagons, these newly modified APCs found new life, both as ore collectors on the frontlines where the Prospectors could not safely operate, and as makeshift armoured support that could adapt to any situation. While accepted by Allied observers, they still note that the vehicle could be used as an impromptu flamethrower tank, as well as calling for all Salamanders to be accounted for. ARVN command has promised that such action would be taken "soon".

Chrono Miner[]
Tactical Analysis[]
- Ready as ever: The predecessor to Prospectors, the Chrono Miner is amphibious, heavily armoured and capable of carrying a considerable amount of ore, but travels rather slowly on treads.
- In the blink of an eye: The Chrono Miner is equipped with a mini-Chronosphere to chronoshift itself along with ore to somewhere around one of its commander's refinery or Command Centre when ordered. This can be used to thwart harassment attempts or make some quick cash.
- Let's dump these stuff: The Chrono Miner also leaves hitch hikers like Terror Drones or Burst Drones behind when chronoshifting home, making harassment more difficult.
- Rolling with a chrono convoy: The Chrono Miner is unarmed unless treads count. Its ability has a cooldown during which it is helpless against anything it can't crush(that's a lot).
Background[]
Ore Trucks played an essential role on both sides of World War II, as they collected raw minerals from faraway ore mines and brought them back to be processed at a refinery to fund their commanders' war efforts. The war also exposed several drawbacks of these trucks. They were completely unarmed and slow enough to be chased down by Anvil Tanks, making them extremely vulnerable when transiting between refineries and ore mines. Also, sometimes their drivers got lost or stuck on the way home until being found and guided back to base by their commanders, who usually wouldn't notice their ore trucks went missing until being informed of insufficient funds.
Shortly after the war, all major powers started to design new dedicated ore collectors with survivability in mind. While the Soviet added reactive armor plated and the Empire simply jury-rigged a pair of machine guns, FutureTech came up with something more elegant: the Chrono Miner. Outfitted with a chronoshift device, which is the earliest known success of attempts to miniaturize a Chronosphere, the Chrono Miner can simply chronoshift away from their harassers while carrying the ore load home to refine, solving the problems of pathfinding and survivability at once. However, to be simplified enough to mass produce at a reasonable cost and prevent reverse-engineering, the device can only chronoshift the miner to a location fifty meters around pre-determined coordinates, usually set to refineries(for obvious reason) and the regional Command Centre(in case all refineries are lost but miners survive) once in a while. The Allies were contented and soon adopted the Chrono Miner as their second generation ore collector.
However, ore mines popped out of the ground like mushrooms during the Cold War. When World War III broke out, it has become very easy for commanders to find a place surrounded by two or three ore mines to set up a base, while the advancements on base building and expansion prompt commanders to build refineries right next to ore mines, render the Chrono Miner's ability obsolete. Though Chrono Miners are being phased out in favor of Prospectors, they are far from being mothballed. The Allies still need them for situations when resources are scattered or supply lines get harassed continually. Or both, like Reservist operations in Vietnam.

Blue China[]
Supply Bunker[]
The primary economic structure of the Blue Chinese armed forces. Originally based off of the Allied SPAM Refinery template, and much later using International Inc templates, these structures are heavily armored and have positions where infantry can garrison them for added defense. Otherwise it operates as a standard refinery.
Before the Bombs[]
The Chinese nation is rich with resources, minerals, lumber, rare earth metals. All of it waiting to be picked up and made into something beautiful. The Blue Chinese had received many old Allied SPAM refineries and were quick to put as many as possible to work mining out as much minerals as they could possibly process. Dotting many of the villages and combat areas would there be the proud Nationalist flag flying high over a newly built refinery. However with so many rich refineries, they became high value targets for the People's Liberation Army. Frequent raids would become devastating blows to the Nationalist cause as resources were stolen and buildings smashed to pieces. It was clear there needed to be a change in its design.
The solution was obvious, "More armor!". And so blueprints were drawn up on how to improve the Refinery's defensive ability. After many prototypes tested and scrapped a successor came to the forefront. The first Supply Bunker was created after several engineers had accidentally blasted a hole in a fortified refinery wall and saw several Nationalist Riflemen using the hole as a way to return fire. The answer wasn't just to reinforce the building but also give it a way to strike back! Even so, with Nationalists and National Garrisons, and even later, the Beagle Miners operating on the forefront, new problems emerged.
While the Supply Bunkers could easily process raw ore and materials into what was needed at a steady pace, it was not fast enough. Troops and war machines were out shooting the supply and once again solutions were needed before the problem snowballed to total defeat. Taking inspiration from the ideas of Henry Ford and a few too many books about the French in the First World War, ideas were hatched and set into motion. Much of the war had spilled into the more resource rich Nationalist lands, areas dotted with villages and the peasantry. Base commanders would send in their forces to "recruit" the village artisans to work in the Supply Bunkers. Putting together hodgepodge explosives, ammunition, medical supplies and whatever else they could make for the front using the resources the buildings could process. However in time more people were needed and so the standard was steadily dropped for who was "recruited" to work in the shops. The illiterate, handicapped, women, children, even the mentally disabled were pressed into service to protect their homes and loved ones by doing their part to help the troops. More security measures were put in place as Supply Bunkers became stocked with more than purely ore. Large magnetically locked doors, vault-like store rooms and even more defensive positions should the structure be under attack. Resources were guarded jealously as every bullet and can were needed to defeat the Red Chinese. When the word came that a new super weapon was being fired off the workers were hurried into the most secure sections of the Supply Bunkers by their Nationalist defenders and told they'd be released once the area was secure.
Doors bolted and locked, large magnets and concrete entryways sealed and guarded, the bombs fell and their world ended forever.
After the Bombs[]
A major flaw, or at least that's what most people thought, of the Supply Bunker's lockdown system was that the deepest rooms that held the most valuable supplies could not be opened from the inside. Once the doors were shut the Nationalists only heard silence from the room within as the walls were so thick with concrete and steel not a peep could escape. True to their word the men assigned made sure the area was secure before letting out those trapped within. Unfortunately an all clear was never sent and those who went out to find and destroy a nonexistent enemy never came back.
Those poor souls trapped within were cut off from the world with no food, water, beds or even light. Panic gave way to hope, but as time went on hope gave into desperation. Many plead with the guards who were either entirely deaf to their cries due to the thick walls of their tomb or were simply gone and went ignored. Time went on and those sealed either starved, killed each other or suffocated. Confined within a room filled to the brim with ammunition, gun parts, tank shells, building repair kits and refined ore. Even as the last whimpers of life were slowly snuffed out, no help ever came for those poor souls locked within.
Once the new lords ruling over their fiefdoms began spreading out looking for more valuable lines of supply locally, many found the abandoned Supply Bunkers and were eager to tear them open for their riches. Of course by this time the guards had either died of starvation or left, leaving the fortified Refineries unmanned. Cracking open the vaults and seals typically involved usage of Allied explosives or, if they were lucky, codes leftover from the war. Opening up the Supply Bunkers revealed an unparalleled wealth of much needed war material that the Nationalist forces direly needed and once again jealously guarded. Even the remnants of their old enemy knew what advantage having but a single Supply Bunker under their possession could bring. Thankfully for the Nationalists, locating the ones still upright and secure was a simple task as most maps contain the location of said refineries.
Now Nationalists and National Garrisons re-man the fortifications of these unsealed vaults of war. Filled to the brim with supplies, wartime material and suffering. Even when in operation, many speak tales of the Screaming Woes, ghostly yells and pleas for release from the deepest parts of Supply Bunkers. Begging for escape from an eternity of torment locked inside darkness. Whispers within the dark corners of the Supply Bunkers, asking when the guards will come back, when they will open the doors and when they can go back home to their families. Though most sane people will brush off said nonsense as pure superstition, the journals of many guards from all over the remains of Blue China tell the same stories of hearing the screams echoing down from the lower levels and the quiet whisper in the drafts asking when can they be let out.

Consulate District[]
One of the now vital lifelines for the Blue Chinese survivors. These very well decorated buildings are where foreigners come to help the cause and leave their supplies for the Blue Chinese to send to the front. Produces variable trickle of resources along with upgrade tree depending on what faction you choose to be supported by.
Before the Bombs[]
While the Nationalists were undoubtedly strong in their own right with fervent determination and the size of Blue China at the time. It wasnt enough at the time for destroying the Communists who had been receiving plenty of material and training aid from the Soviet Union. When things began to slowly turn against the Nationalists the Allies stepped in. Building some airfields and dropping in supplies in the form of old war materials as part of the lend lease, the Nationalist military surged. Continuing this, they built more airfields, helipads and special facilities for housing diplomats and other foreign advisors. While getting in a trickle from the Allies was something, they needed more to destroy the Communists. Direct appealing to the govermental bodies of the Allied Nations only went so far as politicians had other concerns, but there were other ways to convince them. While advisors were the preferred foreigner to be sent over, the Nationalists did not turn away news crews wishing to document the war. During the battle of Peking a report by an ANN news anchor did a tear jerking report from the front lines, showcasing the Communists executing prisoners and the Nationalists valliantly defending civillian lives. While of course they werent shown the Nationalists doing the exact same thing, the recordings were broadcasted all over the United States. Millions of Americans got to see first hand what their allies in China were facing and the bravery of their cause. Donations poured in from many charities and private organizations, letters were sent to congressmen demanding more aid to their comrades in the middle kingdom. The Blue Chinese enjoyed the momentous boost to public support and began purposefully inviting many more news crews, reporters and journalists to document and further spread the idea that the Blue Chinese were honorable fighters doing what they could to defend innocents, while at the same time further bury all the horrific things they actually did. While not able to totally win the war, the use of foreign media to prop up the cause and stir up support in sympathetic outsiders helped fuel the Nationalist war machine even more. Many consulate structures were built somewhat close to the fronts and the Nationalist cities to ensure that the reporters and advisers sent over could best assist the cause.
After the Bombs[]
The cities were vaporized, millions died and the reports stopped. Reporters all deemed missing or killed in the conflict, too many to be named, never got the chance to fully show the Nationalist's greatest victory and defeat. The structures once built to house these outsiders went forgotten in the blasted wastelands or obliterated in the cities... but not forever.
While only a handful of extremely brave and almost sucidally desperate journalists go to Blue China for a story, sympathetic outsiders still lend aid. Consulate buildings, helipads and small airfields are quickly captured by Nationalist warlords and cleaned up. Decorated with the finest of accessories and furniture they can find the Consulate District is a practical Palace Versailles compared to the drudge and filth that the peasantry live in. This is done so of course to attract more support. Remembering what lessons were still learned from the days of outside journalists, any and all Allied, International Inc and very seldomly shown Confederates are treated like kings. Given the best food and shown to the best rooms within the Consulate to stay. Income is generated from these districts by donations, outside investors or care packages as any and all help is desperately welcomed. Many of these places are purposefully put out of sight of the slums and dredge the peasantry live in as seeing the Blue Chinese horrors might drive the sane away from supporting the cause of a bunch of neo feudal warlords ruling over a blasted and dead wasteland of suffering.

Tactical Analysis[]
- Light but heavy: The Beagle Miner is the answer to the Nationalist need of a sturdy and safe miner. Fitted with a hopper and armed with a cannon it is able to carry ore in combat zones more securely than most other front-line miners.
- This Beagle Bites: The 30mm repeater is standard for the Beagle on most fronts but due to the hopper it must deactivate its ability to load ore so it can rotate the turret.
- This ore is heavy: When loaded with ore the Beagle's speed is heavily reduced, making trips back to base a slow and risky venture.
- They still make these?: If a Blue Chinese general is satisfied with his Beagle Miners he will reward them with the somewhat rare Beagle designed Jade Engine. Even when loaded down it will maintain regular speed making for a much smoother ride.
Before the Bombs[]
To say the economic impact of the Civil War on the Nationalists was significant would be drastically undercutting the truth. Many of the disenfranchised peasants flocked to the communists, and in doing so slowly stripped needed manpower for the mines along with the mines themselves. While much of this impact was alleviated by the Allied Lend Lease program it was still not enough. SPAM refineries had to take up the slack in this slump, each one was the base model used by the Allies at the core but heavily armored with extra concrete and positions for Nationalists to defend after a major breakthrough by the Communists. Although attacks against the buildings lowered, the PLA changed tactics and instead targeted the vulnerable harvesters. Their economic losses mounting and Communist attacks growing ever more bold the Nationalists needed a solution.
Buying newer model ore trucks was out of the question, the time it'd take to get those and the investment needed was just too much. Looking into their own stock of utility vehicles turned up more and more bad news. Their stock of Whippets were looked into but with too many already in use in active combat roles rendered the option moot and undesirable. Retrievers were the next best option but even that was off the table as too many had already been converted into Mortar Tanks and those were direly needed on the front. Options seemed almost slim to none until by pure chance a solution was found. While the Nationalists were slowly depleting on resources and had a clear lack of utility vehicles to convert into hardy and well armored harvesters, what they did have in abundance were M4 Light Tanks. Nearly every shipment from the Allies contained at least one. Food, water, resources, aircraft, other vehicles, all came bundled with a single Beagle Light Tank. While they had so many it did not fit the Nationalist doctrine of fortresses, medium tanks and trenches. Pressure mounting and the lines showing the first signs of buckling, two and two were finally put together during a routine inspection of a Beagle scrapyard. A discriminating officer noticed the large rear bed of one of the Beagles and realized that there was a place for all these Light tanks that could solve the Nationalist economic woe.
After several tests and prototypes the first Beagle Miner was created. Using bits and parts from other Light Tanks they managed to retrofit on a hopper to easily collect up and store precious ore or in the late war Jade and safely take it back to the refinery with the addition of extra armor to boot! The first few tests of the new Beagle Miner showed exceptional results, especially when a surprise PLA raid was driven back by a brave Beagle Miner driver. So impressed was the Nationalist brass they ordered as much of their Light Tank stock to be immediately converted into Beagle Miners. While these tanks performed exceptionally at their job it was clear there was still room for improvement and so improvement was made. Tests were made into upgrading the engine as the standard engine on the Light Tank struggled with maintaining a fast speed while the vehicle was loaded down with heavy ore. The most promising outcomes of these tests was a new prototype Jade powered engine that showed great potential to allow Beagle Miners to operate equally as fast loaded or unloaded. Many were ready to be shipped out and change the war effort for the better when the bombs finally fell.
After the Bombs[]
"Mustfinishordersmustfinishordersmustfinishorders!"
- The chanting of the Beagle miner driver and gunner, as they mow down anything in their way
While the nuclear exchange decimated cities, major industrial centers and military infastructure, the Supply Bunkers and Beagles were mostly unmolested by the nuclear fire that burned away China. In fact most of the Beagle Miner fleet remained unscathed and even more surprising is the Beagle Scrapyards were also mostly untouched. While the Miners and their crews survived the blasts, their spirits were dashed that all their efforts were wasted until they saw that their precious Supply Bunkers and Munitions Pillboxes remained. Some took their Beagles and left to find what was left of their families but others saw that the war had never truly ended and Blue China still needed their hard work and full dedication.
They did everything they could before the war to extract every ounce of ore from the land as possible. Strip mining a renewable resource into obscurity, leaving behind dead and scarred lands. But they needed to fullfill their old daily quotas or the war would be lost! At first they attempted to mine what jade they could but after seeing their fellows developing strange illnesses and even stranger (sometimes lethal) mutations, it was quickly abandoned as a resource for the Beagle Miners to handle. Eventually however desperation grew to the point that so long as it was valuable or useful to the Blue Chinese cause, it could fullfill what resource quotas they had. First it was simple scavenging, trudging through the ruins with their tanks, taking gold, silver, iron, steel from the corpses of the long since dead and throwing it into the hopper. Once that began to run out they turned to raiding. Going to whatever few hamlets were left and taking whatever valuables the mutated and suffering peasantry had. Telling themselves that it was for the cause and they would be praised as heroes. And once the peasants were thoroughly raided and had nothing of value left, they turned to abductions and breaking down the villages themselves. Men and women abducted, houses stripped down to the boards for whatever metals could be ripped from them. Manpower and metal taken back to their new fiefdom overlords to fullfill quotas from a regime long since dead. What few villages left on the outskirts of Blue Chinese territory lock their doors and get whatever weapons they can when they hear the trudging engines of Beagle Miners for their children may very well be what they take next.

Smuggler Tunnel[]
Secret underground tunnels crisscross underneath the jungle. Some of these tunnels stretch all the way across the border between north and south Vietnam. Supplies, plans, and intelligence pass through these tight passages fueling the Vietcong’s resistance and allowing coordination between them and the NVA.
NVA Smelter[]
Soviet-designed smelters provide most of the raw materials used by the NVA to fuel their war effort. VC forces become much more dangerous when they can be convinced to allow one to be erected locally, though they often mourn the loss of the neighborhood's rustic appeal and protest its environmental impact, which has caused the NVA to consider a switch to all-natural, cruelty-free ore.

In spite of the fact that they are generally under-supplied and equipped in comparison to the enemies that the fight, the Viet Cong has been able to inflict great damage upon the South Vietnamese armed forces and the Allies, using their guerrilla tactics, determination and familiarity with the terrain to counter the advantages of superior equipment and logistical support that the ARVN and the Allies possess.
Considering the disproportionate amount of damage a VC force supported by nothing more than bicycle couriers from nearby villages could inflict on well equipped, well trained Allied Reservist forces, some have pondered how effective the Viet Cong would be in the scenario that they were well supplied and armed.
Until recently, such a scenario was an entirely hypothetical one. However, with the disastrous defeats suffered by the NVA in the wake of the Allied intervention in the Vietnam War, and the sudden resurgence of the Viet Cong, North Vietnam has been increasing its support for the Viet Cong in the hopes that they will inflict severe casualties on the Allied and South Vietnamese forces, hopefully allowing the NVA to regain the upper hand. To this end, the NVA has been increasingly supplying the VC with supplies, ammunition, spare parts, and local microbrews, transported by Supply Trucks driving up and down the Ho Chi Minh trail.
Indeed, with the NVA aiding the Viet Cong in the construction of smelters for the refining of ore, NVA Supply Trucks have also been seeing increasing use with the Viet Cong, as ore collection and transportation vehicles. Reliable and speedy, these Supply Trucks serve the Viet Cong well. Additionally, they can be easily and quickly disguised to look like a part of the jungle to hide them from ARVN or Allied forces, though the telltale glint that ore gives off means that it is usually dumped by Supply Truck drivers so that it doesn't give them away.

Red China[]
Hellgate[]
Before the Bombs[]
As the need for resources in the seemingly endless Chinese Civil War grew more and more intense it isn't surprising that the same taboo and dark science that would create some of the most disturbing weapons ever to disgrace the face of the earth would also try to come up with a solution to the resource problem.
For the Red Chinese the answer came in the form of the Hellmouth, which some would say was an abomination like no other, however when it comes to recycling everything from metal to human beings it was pretty damn good at what it did, so it's not surprising that they tried to scale it down.
The end result is the Hellgate, which is constructed using junkyard magnets that have been electrically supercharged as much as possible. While it can't rip apart organic matter like its bigger brother, the Hellgate is capable of ripping the ore out of the rocks as well as small vehicles just fine, which was considered a reasonable trade-off for its small size, this fact combined with it being relatively easy to operate meant that by the time the bombs fell every red chinese base had at least one Hellgate on-site.
After the Bombs[]
While nearly all Hellgates were destroyed when the bombs fell, surprisingly there were more than enough spare parts to rebuild them many times over.
The reason for this was to make sure they would remain in continuous operation with minimal downtime, such was the massive demand for resources before the bombs fell, however despite all the spare parts red chinese warlords are extremely protective of their Hellgates welding on whatever extra metal they have to increase their durability since no more extra parts are being made, so much so that whenever red chinese warlords attack each other great care is taken not to damage them, such is their usefulness in the desolate wasteland that China has become.
Powering them was an issue, however the warlords solve that problem the same way they solve powering their cargo trucks, large numbers of mutant animals on large treadmill dynamos, the mutants were also frequently rotated on and off power duty to ensure that they don't die from exhaustion, and are usually fed leftovers, human waste, and the occasional disobedient soldier, so now while even more disturbing than they were before the bombs the Hellgates of red China continue their grim duty.

Hellpit[]
The passive economic structure of the Red Chinese. It is a mix of a Soviet Grinder and a trickle income structure. Allowing for both extra income and a way to get a discounted return for no longer useful units.
Before the Bombs[]
Some in the Soviet Union and North Korea had vested interests in seeing what their Chinese brethren could bring to bear for the greater world revolution as a whole. The Russians sent in some of their better graduate minds and the North Koreans sent soldiers and engineers to study and help with what they could for the communist effort in China. What they found was just as much shocking as it was intriguing. Using strange new technologies the Red Chinese had created a system of recycling unwanted machinery and behind closed doors... corpses of the fallen. The Red Chinese called this abomination of a machine a Hellmouth. While this monstrocity was indeed the eventual evolution of the Soviet Crusher Crane, it had room for improvement. Many of the graduates and engineers decided that to help the cause theyd seek to find ways of improving and miniturizing the design of the Hellmouth. After months of development, accidents, suicides and a single resignation that was swiftly followed by falling into the machine the first Hellpit was created.
An amalgamation of Soviet science, North Korean design and Red Chinese technology, it was a more compact version of the Hellmouth, Cheaper in cost on resources but still performing the same function. The Hellpit was able to rip apart nearly anything thrown into it, cars, rocks, tanks, junk, corpses, people, animals, and turn it into usable materials and supplies. A single wrecked Mastiff could repair and repair a pair of Battlemasters. A destroyed Cargo Truck could easily supply and arm at least 50 Red Guardsmen and 5 Nationalists could create enough medical supplies and water for a field hopstial to run for several days. The machine was a literal warcrime built with four walls but it supplemented the PLA war machine significantly. Being built on the frontline allowed for weakened assaults to retreat back to base, sacrifice some ruined vehicles and weapons to repair what others are still fucntional. Bodies could be collected and processed into medicine and in times of extreme need food. The Russian and North Koreans responsible for the machine wrote up reports, drew blueprints and prepared for extensive documentation to send back to the homelands for reverse engineering. But it was all too late, before they could send them off, everything ended in a bright flash.
After the Bombs[]
"Feed me....."
- - Torn excerpt from a Red Guard journal about hearing voices in the Hellpit
While the blasts certianly prevented the Soviets and North Koreans from getting their own copies of the Hellpit, it didnt stop the survivors from building their own from what was left. The nightmarish machines were still able to perform their duty even in this apocalyptic wasteland. While many incomplete building templates still existed the Red Chinese survivors needed more. Taking what they can from either the surrounding blasted landscape or what bits of Soviet and North Korean technology they can get ahold of many more of these war crimes were constructed to assist with Communist Chinese bandit raids. Dragging back captured wrecks, vehicles or even people and throwing them in and watching as fresh canned food and resources came out the other end (at least after the screaming and ripping noises stopped).
Hellpits slowly became a common sight at various Red Chinese bases as the prospect of ripping to shreds just about anything thrown in and getting resources back was perfect for the raiding tactics that many of the former PLA now used. Soon after this however the Soviets, wanting to assist in propping up this buffer state, began sending down supplies and resources to the various Hellpits within Red Chinese territory via orbital drops. By using specially modified space junk and a magnetic satellite or two, they could drop down materials and supplies down to the Red Chinese with some plausible deniability.

- Let’s pick up some loot: Cargo Trucks as name suggest are for hauling around cargo, namely ore, back to Hellgates for processing.
- I’m on a tight schedule: Like other ore collectors these trucks are rather slow, especially hauling a full load. Luckily they can use some of their precious gas to give them a boost of speed.
- I’m going as fast as I can: Lacking weaponry and stripped down to their essentials, combat vehicles Cargo Trucks are not.
Before the Bombs[]
To maintain a full-scale war effort for decades, as both Blue and Red China did during the Chinese Civil War, would be an undertaking of leviathan proportions. For both sides, the war would demand staggering quantities of resources; ore, fuel, manpower, food; all of these things the Blue and Red Chinese needed greatly and all of these things they took from the land until they found there was nothing left.
Manpower they simply conscripted from the villages and towns and cities, or forced to work in the factories until they dropped; when there wasn't enough Blue China started reusing bodies, while Red China simply made new ones. Food was demanded from the farmers, to feed the soldiers fighting the war; if there wasn't enough everyone else simply starved. Fuel was pumped from the ground until the oil wells dried up; both sides began looking into alternatives when their supplies of gasoline and diesel began to run low. Ore was strip mined out of the ground and refined into metal to forge more tanks; once the mines could no longer provide enough the Red Chinese turned to their Hellmouths to recycle machines and men.
In all these efforts to gather more resources for the war effort, one vehicle eventually became critical to Red Chinese logistics; the K-77 Supply Truck, also known as the Cargo Truck. Though mostly unremarkable, it had the advantages of being reliable, fast, and cheap (even more so when the Red Chinese trimmed out all the "unnecessary features" of the design, such as replacing the window glass with screens and the seats with a simple metal bench). The original fleet was provided by the Soviets in the earlier days of the war, and when it was found that there weren't enough trucks Red China turned to the simple expedient of making more.
As the decades went by the Red Chinese continued to use them in greater numbers; to transport food and ammunition and fresh bodies to the frontlines; to carry ore from the mines to the smelters and oil from the wells to the refineries. When the mines ran low and suitable bodies began running out, Cargo Trucks began to be used for a more macabre purpose, bringing dead corpses and wrecked tanks to the Hellmouths to be ripped apart and reused. By 1968, Red China had more Cargo Trucks than Battlemasters.
After the Bombs[]
Given the scarcity of resources in China post-nuclear exchange, it is not that surprising that the survivors of the bombs fight tooth and nail for the few scraps and leftovers that are still there. While some seek the protection and supplies that the warlords or the Atomic Chinese can provide, and a few try to go it alone, just as many have turned to banditry, stealing from others and hoarding for themselves.
With these bandits, Red China's old Cargo Trucks found a new purpose. Though some bandits could simply stash away any ill gotten gains in their own vehicles, the more successful found that their Battlemasters didn't have the space to carry away an entire village's possessions. With Cargo Trucks one of the most common vehicles in the wastelands, many bandits turned to using them to transport their spoils. They weren't the only groups making use of them, either; groups travelling in the blasted landscape or even those who chose to remain loyal to the Red Chinese military (or what's left of it) also employ Cargo Trucks, as there are few better alternatives. Aside from the Atomic Kingdom, only the Blue Chinese and those of their number who have broken away to become warlords refuse to employ the trucks, as they are of Communist manufacture.
Of course, with fuel being scarce as it is, there is precious little available for the Cargo Trucks in use. However, one Red Chinese warlord, a former army engineer, came up with an ingenious solution. By rigging up a crude battery and hooking it up to the engine, the truck could be slowly propelled forward, with the batteries being recharged by crude dynamos powered by rats that have grown to unusual size due to the radiation, or by the driver (with the aid of some pedals). The diesel engine could still be used in emergencies, but otherwise it could be left off. Despite the almost nonexistent level of communication, other Red Chinese warlords managed to hear about this ingenious solution and quickly began modifying their own cargo trucks in the same way, so now although at a greatly reduced speed Red Chinese cargo trucks continue providing supplies for various warlords, although any nonemergency use of diesel result in a savage beating at best, or at worst being fed to the giant rats that recharge the batteries.

The Middle East, due to its geographic location, has often been referred to the crossroads of the world. All manner of goods passes through the region creating a thriving market for various wares, including those of illegal nature. The GLA uses these underground markets to fuel their crusade and also as source of badly needed semi-modern (or at least less obsolete) equipment. Due to the danger of attracting the attention of law enforcement, who in turn tend to bring more heavily armed military forces, each rebel cell is only allowed to operate one Black Market at time.

"This cart is heavy!"
- - A common complaint among the workers
Tactical Analysis[]
- I will work: Formed from peasant forced into servitude or Rebels punished for insubordination. The Workers are tasked to gather ore for the warlords with heavy ore carts, which are chained to them, and can even do it at sea thanks to a collapsible rowboat and pontoons packed into the cart
- Does it have to be so far?: While they are dirt cheap they are also slow, as expected of a man having to drag around a cart, and they gather the lowest amount of ore, again a man can't carry much more in an already heavy cart.
- Can I have a ride?: This can be compensated somewhat by having the Worker, under the warlords command, connect their cart to a Toxin Tractor, thus giving them a much needed rest, and allowing them to gather more ore and move faster. However the Tractor is somewhat slowed, but in compensation the spare pontoons are fitted on the Tractor, giving it amphibious capability.
- OW! I never hurt you!: Either due to their low intelligence, or as punishment, the Workers are never armed, and forbidden to do so. That, combined with their slowness and fragility, means its a literal miracle if they survived an encounter with the enemy.
Background[]
As the war began the warlords of the GLA quickly began to capture ore nodes, both to fill their coffers and to buy mercenaries to protect them/conquer more land, only to realized a problem. How are they gonna transport their riches?
At first they used the tractors they have, connected to a large cart, to carry said ores. But as the war dragged on, and more tractors were converted to Toxin tractors, they soon realized they had more carts then tractors, as while the new tractors can protect their supplies they were heavily slowed down meaning that most drivers abandoned their cart when battle began, and began trying to find a solution.
Unfortunately what other vehicles that can drag the cart, mainly the Scorpion, was already used in battle, and cars and trucks were fuel inefficient when dragging a cart full of ore. Before settling to just having someone drag the cart, but obviously no one in the right mind would do it.
Around the same time two problems emerged. As the war had dragged on and warlord began to forcibly conscript more people, they soon realized that a good chunk of rural villagers lacked education, and after a disaster that destroyed two Palaces, and the generals in it, because a peasant thought it was a good idea to light a cigarette near their ammunition storage they were banned from combat and handling anything explosive, but the warlords didn't want to waste manpower. The second was how to punish insubordinating soldiers, ranging from asking for higher pay to taking the warlords baklava, since execution and imprisonment was a waste of manpower.
And in a spark of genius, mainly from watching a film where men are chained to push a wheel, they realized they could kill two birds with one stone.
Now the carts are pulled by the peasant, who don't know any better, or by their soldiers, as punishment for insubordination, and to make sure they don't run are chained to it, known now as Worker. Also, due to limited resources, said Worker must also walk barefoot across the dunes, with asking for new shoes being the second common complaint, the first having to drag the cart.

Background[]
Even after you manage to haul ore from the bowels of the Earth, you are still left with lumps of inert rock that serve little to no purpose barring throwing them at your enemies, thus, nearly every faction on Earth has developed refineries of one type or another. International Inc was the first to start distributing standardized refinery plans, selling to both sides of World War 2. Processing ore is a dirty and dangerous proposition, and even after processing you are still left with some impurities, so, to change this, International Inc developed the Standarized Ore Purification Plant, or SOPP, for this task. Having a sturdy structure in the field also provided II with room for office space to both oversee the plant and do other tasks.

Tactical Analysis[]
- A Flying Harvester: Unique to the Cult, they Bluejay Hauler is flying harvester with all that entails. Terrain is no obstacle for this ore hauler.
- Care to drop in?: The Bluejay can of course can also act as an airborne transport for Cult soldiers, giving then some welcome mobility. Keep in mind you cannot carry both ore and people at the same time.
- Just a ordinary copter: Like a Cult units, the Bluejay is able to disguise itself as a civilian helicopter. Other soldiers will not fire upon it unless ordered to or alerted to its true allegiance by detectors.
- Don’t ruin the disguise: To maintain its disguise as a civilian aircraft, it is forbidden to arm or modify the Bluejay in any way.
Background[]
"Alright boys, your cleared for landing. Wait, who-"
- - Last radio transmission of a nearby Reservist outposts, investigations found the outpost razed, with only marking of Confederates and a strange residue hinting the culprit
Thanks to its rugged design, huge cargo space, and ease of manufacture the Bluejay is still used in the United states, other countries, and even in the reservists, as a civilian transport chopper, despite the Allies having replaced them, outside of the Vietnam theatre, with the faster Cardinal, especially since, with some minor configuration, it can easily hold a storage bin below it to hold many things, from water for firefighters, ore from miners, or even delivering/smuggling weapons and ammunition for the Reservists/Confederates. With a Bluejay flying overhead in most countries being a normal sight, contributing to the Allies headache in trying to identify a Bluejay is piloted by the rebels, to be shot down, and a Bluejay piloted by civilians, a PR nightmare if shot down especially if it was a Reservists.
Such normality also made it the perfect ore collector for the Black Hand, also giving headaches to the Order, due to a combination of their lack of AA weapons and the risk that downing the wrong Bluejay could expose them.
Before getting their hands on the Bluejay the Cult had struggled in gathering large amount supplies in short order. Since many of their vehicle lacked the horepower to carry large amount of ore, large trucks can be easily spotted and destroyed by the Orders ground forces, and arming either of those would arouse suspicion. But once they found the Bluejay they began to acquire them, from Cult spies in the Allies and Confederate shipping them to a "special division", buying them with proxies, or straight up stealing them in the dead of night, with maybe an "accident" or two to cover their tracks. And once acquired all it took was attaching a bin to the winch and they got their collector, with the cargo space also doubling as a transport for clandestine deployment, but pilots are forbidden to hold both ore and infantry, since the last time it happened the Bluejay had spun out of control and crashed due to being overloaded. With this the Cults dubs it the Bluejay Hauler.
To maintain their "civilian" cover, cultists never install or even use a weapon on their Bluejays. Instead, they keep a low profile until they reach their destination, disembark and start shooting at those who are still trying to figure out what's going on. Such tactic has scared many anti-air units to open fire on any Bluejay that isn't theirs, causing several civilian Bluejay casualties and friendly fire incidents. The tensions between Allies and American people keep growing, which is just what Black Hand needs.
