Tactical Analysis

• Blue Water Shield: The Horizon Frigate is often the vanguard of Reservist Fleets and the first line of defense for heavier vessels.

• 75mm of Fury: The Horizon Frigate is first and foremost equipped with a 75mm Cannon, which is a modified version of the same cannon of the Horizon Artillery Tank, but modified to have a higher velocity to target both sea and air targets.

• Bombs away!: Horizon Frigates, like the Frigates of old come with a helicopter, though this one is a drone, but still drops high explosives like the good old days.

• Freezer Burn: When faced with the imminent threat of the Atomic Kingdom of China, new naval designs have been drawn up, including the Horizon Frigate-Experimental, which is equipped with a Spectrum Cannon instead of it's 75mm Dual Purpose Cannon, and the Firescout is updated with Cryo bombs

Operational History

While effective, the San-Juan Class Frigate and Raytheon Class Frigates have been showing their age, and were replaced with the Subhunter Frigate and the Assault Destroyer in the Allied Navy. Unfortunately not all Allied Member Nations can afford all the new toys for their navies, and have stuck with the old Frigates. Recognizing the disparity, a number of Allied Designers came up with a new design based on the old Frigate design without as many bells and whistles but still more effective than the old ones. The first step in its design was to improve the Helicopter, and to do that the old Pelican was swapped out with a new design, the "Firescout", which is a simplified drone designed as a helicopter, but with the old-fashioned dumb bombs. Secondly to find an updated cannon the 75mm cannon from the Horizon, but updating it to have a higher velocity and to be able to hit both sea and air targets. With both of these major upgrades, and general updates of the Frigate Hull and Engines, there was now a vehicle that could be sufficiently produced for all Allied Member Nations to face newer and greater threats.
